DICKINSON
A 21-year-old man was shot and killed during a Saturday morning argument outside his girlfriend’s home, according to the Dickinson Police Department.
Dvonte Sutton, 21, of Dickinson, was shot in the 4700 block of 38th Street about 8:30 a.m., police said. Sutton was shot in the upper chest, police said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Jaron Morgan, 20, of Dickinson, was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with murder in Sutton’s death, police said.
Police believe Sutton and Morgan knew each and had been in an argument before the shooting, a police spokesman said.
Morgan was taken into custody in Bacliff shortly after the shooting, police said.
A woman police described as Morgan’s girlfriend was taken into custody Saturday morning, but was released without being charged, police said.
Morgan was being held at the Dickinson Police Department and was expected to be transferred to the Galveston County Jail in Galveston on Saturday.
