Soapy Joe’s collecting food donations
Soapy Joe’s will be collecting food donations at all of its locations to give back to local families. Customers can donate a nonperishable food item at Soapy Joe’s through December, and can also redeem a free Magic Joe Car Wash (a $20 value) for their donations from noon to 5 p.m. every Friday through Sunday. All donations will go directly to the San Diego Food Bank. Also, the 100.7 BIG-FM bus will visit to collect donations from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Soapy Joe’s at 12620 Sabre Springs Parkway, San Diego, and from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Soapy Joe’s at 2658 Jamacha Road, El Cajon.
Tax credit program ready for applicants
The California Competes Tax Credit is an income-tax credit available to businesses that want to locate in California or stay and grow in California. Businesses of any industry, size or location can apply for more than $180 million available in tax credits during one of several application periods each year. For fiscal year 2021-2022, GO-Biz will accept applications from Jan. 3-24 and March 7-28. Before each application period, GO-Biz hosts online webinars about the program. MiraCosta program helps entrepreneurs
MiraCosta College introduces the Business Quick Startup program, which aims to help prospective entrepreneurs get their businesses started fast. Instruction will be offered in English and Spanish. The Business Quick Startup certificate includes four courses: feasibility analysis; legal structure; funding sources; and one-on-one mentoring. Students also have the option to take a series of two-hour workshops called “Startup on a Shoestring,” whuch focus on low-cost business startups such as independent contracting and gig work, jewelry making, selling on Etsy, and social media management. Upcoming workshops will focus on influencing as a side hustle, cottage (home-cooked) foods, and retailing. The San Diego & Imperial Small Business Development Center Network, primarily funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, will also provide assistance as students complete the program. Local resident named to credit union post
Wheelhouse Credit Union has named Rancho Bernardo resident Michael Glogowski as its chief information officer. Reporting to Wheelhouse President and CEO Lisa Paul-Hill, he will lead all aspects of the credit union’s enterprise technologies and strategies. Glogowski brings more than 30 years of technology leadership to his new role, where he will focus on leveraging technology to increase member convenience and service quality. He has been vice president of information technology and information security officer at Wheelhouse since 2017. He began his technology career as a data systems technician for the U.S. Navy, where he completed three tours of Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
New VP at senior living group
Senior Resource Group LLC has named Chris Gladheim as its new vice president of human resources. The company develops, owns and operates luxury senior living communities across seven states. Gladheim’s duties include talent acquisition and management, leadership development, and advising senior management on workforce strategies. He brings 25 years’ experience in human resources focusing on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. A former U.S. Marine, he most recently served as a senior director of human resources for a large defense and diversified technology company in support of more than 15,000 employees.
