Religious bodies of worship are coming together to celebrate Holy Week in and around the city of Houston.
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will be hosting a series of events for church-goers to attend and stand in reverence of the days.

The following churches are staging live re-enactments of Jesus’ Passion on the Cross on Good Friday, April 15.
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

Friday at 9 a.m. ‘Start to draw.’
Parishioners create dramatic images using carpets of colored sawdust decorated with religious designs. Bilingual Service at 3 p.m.
Then a 5 p.m. live re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross with Confirmation candidates. In a symbolic gesture, the carpets are destroyed in the procession.
University of St. Thomas Living Way of the Cross Procession
Friday 10:15 a.m. – Led by the cross, the two-mile procession travels from the University of St. Thomas Chapel of St. Basil located at W. Alabama at Yoakum St., Houston, 77006 to Holy Rosary Catholic Church 3617 Milam St., Houston 77002
Women and men, priests, and hundreds of laypeople take part in the ‘pilgrimage’ through Houston’s Montrose.
St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church
501 Tidwell, Houston, 77022
Friday at 2 p.m., the Spanish-speaking young adult group will lead a live open-air dramatization of the Passion of Christ. Approximately one thousand people are expected to attend.

Officials with the Archdiocese said they served 1.7 million Catholics in 10 counties.
