India is ready for the mother of listings. LIC on Sunday filed DRHP for the biggest ipo that will see sale of 5% of its equity shares. A company with a market capitalisation of over Rs 1 lakh crore at the time of IPO could offer at least 5% of its equity shares. LIC has a total of 632.49 crore outstanding shares. LIC’s embedded worth is pegged at Rs 5.39 lakh crore as of September-end.
SBI Caps, Kotak Mahindra Capital, ICICI Securities, Axis Capital, JM Financial, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citigroup, Nomura, and Bank of America Securities are managing the issue.

Divestment target
The current fiscal FY22’s divestment target was revised to Rs 78,000 crore from the Budget estimates of Rs 1.75 lakh crore and the Centre would like to cash in on the LIC IPO to meet its revised divestment estimate.

Philippines logs 3,050 new COVID-19 cases
The Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,050 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 3,637,280. The DOH reported no new deaths from the pandemic due to “technical issues in extracting data (from the system),” leaving the death toll at 54,930. The number of active cases dropped to 81,394 from Saturday’s 84,229 in the country. The positivity rate fell to 11.7 percent from 14.3 percent the previous day.

Preparations underway for second phase of UP Assembly polls
Security has been tightened in Uttar Pradesh for the second phase of polling that will take place on Monday in 55 Assembly seats, spread across nine districts. As many as 586 candidates are in the fray in fifty-five Assembly seats spread across nine districts of Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Amroha, Budaun, Bareilly and Shahjahanpur. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Civil Police and Home Guards have been deployed at all the polling stations in nine districts of the state.
Mizoram registers 1,883 new recoveries
With 10,802 active COVID-19 cases reported in Mizoram, the state registered 634 deaths so far informed, the state Department of Information and Public Relation on Sunday. With 1,883 new recoveries, the state lodged a total of 1,81,931 recoveries and the recovery improved to 94.08 per cent. As many as 1,93,367 COVID cases have been reported in the state. The COVID bulletin reads a new death in the past 24 hours.
Magnitude 5.5 earthquake registered near Philippines
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck off the coast of the Philippines on Sunday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The earthquake was registered at 04:36 GMT. The epicenter was located 58 kilometers (36 miles) north of the locality of Namuac at a depth of 39.7 kilometers. No further information on the possible casualties or damage has been reported yet.

Over 12.37 cr unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses available with States, UTs: Centre
The Union Government on Sunday said that more than 12.37 crore unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories (UTs). According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, “More than 170.95 crores (1,70,95,24,720) vaccine doses have been provided to States and UTs so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.” “More than 12.37 crore (12,37,14,841) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered,” the Ministry said.

Pak reports 3,206 new COVID cases, 41 deaths in last 24 hours
Pakistan reported a total of 3,206 new COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data on Sunday. With this latest data, the death toll has reached 29,772. The number of coronavirus patients in critical care at various hospitals across the country stands at 1,623, reported ARY News.
Goa votes tomorrow for 40 Assembly seats
With campaigning for the 40 Assembly seats Goa concluding on Saturday, the state will go to polls in a single phase on Monday. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is being challenged by Congress, Trinamool Congress and Aam Admi Party (AAP) in a multi-cornered electoral contest in Goa.
