IIT-K, MNNIT among top 10 tech institutes. BBAU, BHU & IIIT Among ‘Performers’.

Lucknow: Two institutes from Uttar Pradesh have made it to the list of top 10 centrally funded technical institutions under Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA).
While IIT-Kanpur has bagged the fourth position, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prayagraj, secured 10th spot.
Among other centrally funded institutions, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) made it to the ‘excellent’ category while Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Lucknow), Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi) and Indian Institute of Information Technology (Prayagraj) found place in ‘performers’ category.

No government or government-aided university or college from the state found a place in ARIIA-2021.
ARIIA critically evaluates institutions on parameters like patent filing and grants, number of registered students and faculty startups, fund generation by incubated start-ups, specialized infrastructure created by institutions to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
The first edition of ARIIA started in 2019 and a total of 496 institutes competed for rankings. As many as 3,551 higher education institutions and 1,438 technical institutions (including all IITs, NITs and IISc) had registered for the current edition of ARIIA.
